The little-known town of Ardea in southern Lazio is the location of La Cascina family holiday resort and represents the best of all worlds for a trip that includes a little bit of everything: our sprawling countryside open spaces and farm, the rolling Lazio hills, the Mediterranean and of course, the historical city of Rome.
La Cascina Resort Ardea
The town of Ardea dates back to even before Roman times and is named after Ardeas, the mythological son of Odysseus and the sorceress Circe. Not far away is the beautiful town of Nettuno with its splendid medieval borgo, while just a few hundred metres from La Cascina are the Landriana Gardens, designed by the renowned landscape architect Russel Page.
For some retail therapy, there’s a designer brand outlet at Castel Romano around 15 minutes away by car, while for some proper fun you’ll find Zoomarine in nearby Torvaianica and Cinecittà World in the town of Castel Romano.
Rome is 40km away and can be reached easily within an hour by car (don’t forget we offer free parking here at La Cascina too!) For those bereft of their own transport the capital can also be reached by Cotral bus or by a combination of local buses and trains. We’ll be more than happy to help you plan your itinerary and organise bookings of transport, tours, restaurants and more while you’re here with us at our top family countryside resort in Lazio!
